Are you still paying full-price for theme park and theatre tickets? Why? Provided you are willing to book online through a reputable supplier such as lastminute.com or 365 Tickets for Attractions, or London Theatre Direct for Theatre Tickets for instance, then you can often book right up until the morning of the trip and you will quite often get fantastic discounts on theme park ticket prices and discounted theatre tickets - discounts that you simply will not get when you turn up to the venue. Even top attractions such as The London Dungeons and the Tower of London will give you a discount if you know how! For example, you can currently get into Madame Tussauds after 5pm for £12.50 instead of the normal £25 if booked online. This still leaves 2 hours for the visit which is plenty of time.
Our latest addition is Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs and, whilst we cannot currently offer a big discount, you can book and print your ticket online, which will save you considerable time queueing upon arrival.
Theatres, Comedy Clubs, Theme Parks, Historic Buildings, Safari parks and Aquaria - discounts are all available for the asking. Look at our A-Z of Attractions to see just how many places in Great Britain and the Irish Republic offer discounts!
The other advantage of booking online is that you save having to wait in the main queue and instead can head for the pre-booked queue - usually much shorter! Check our prices now!
Find out where to visit in the United Kingdon - depending upon your interests and budget - we have hostels, camping and caravanning sites, self-catering apartments right up to five star hotels.
Once you have decided where to holiday, you can look up the location and find out about the area - how to get there, where to stay, where to eat and, most importantly, what to see or do! We welcome any suggestions for additional features and if you want your business listed, click on the link at the bottom and follow the instructions.

2009 - good year or bad year?
With the US Banking crisis spilling over to the UK and families' spending being reined in this is going to be a tough year all round. What this does mean is that there will be bargains to have. We saw in the run-up to Christmas that many stores were not blatantly running pre-Christmas sales but instead, the savvy shopper was able to get hold of discount codes to knock 5%, 10% and even 20% off the price of purchases.
Expect to see more of the same. Watch this space for deals on travel, attractions and entertainment over the next few months as seasonal businesses such as Theme Parks open and try to attract your attention. Whilst we welcome your visits, you can save a trip if you sign up to our Newsletter. We will then let you know as and when the offers become available. Click here to sign up. Happy 2009!
Genealogy and the Internet
One of the big successes of the Internet is the ability to research your Ancestors. Originally this meant using Search engines to dig up snippets of information.
However, more recently, there has been a boom in what is effectively an enormous online jigsaw. Anyone can go to sites such as Genes Reunited (part of the Friends Reunited brand) or Ancestry.co.uk, feed in the information that they have discovered so far and the websites will then search for similar patterns in its vast database and let you know about them. This allows you to build up your family tree at a far faster rate than you could by visiting cemeteries, Records Offices and Newspaper archives.
*NEWS* Complete British Phone Books collection
We are pleased to announce that the complete British Phone Book collection from 1880-1984 is now available on Ancestry.co.uk. Dating back to 1880, the year after the public telephone service was introduced into Great Britain; phone books are really helpful tools for family historians.
Because they are updated so regularly (every 12-18 months from the mid 1900s onwards) phone books are a great companion to Census records for tracing your ancestors' whereabouts. You'll find information on where your ancestors were living. Indeed telephone ownership in itself is highly revealing in establishing class and social prominence of your ancestors too. So, even if you don't find your ancestors listed in the early directories, this in itself is very telling in terms of establishing the social status of your ancestors too.
From the structure of the directories themselves, you'll also be able to get a very rich picture of the areas in which your ancestors were living and for the types of concerns which would of occupied their every day lives. For example, from the very first issue, the changing nature of local and national advertisements (from local milk supplies to major utility suppliers) provide for a fascinating picture of economic and industrial development of Britain. Note: The British Phone Books data 1880 - 1984 is provided by Ancestry.co.uk in association with BT and the database contains images of original records.
