Travel add-ons such as airport parking, hotels and lounges make the journey easier and substantial discounts are available for booking online in advance. Holiday Extras is one of the biggest players in this market with a very easy to use website. As airports become more and more of a cattle market, Lounge Pass (for occasional travellers) and Priority Pass (for more regular travellers) provide access to Airport Lounges whilst you wait for your flight. A quiet sanctum with complimentary drinks, papers & magazines and comfortable seating, it's a great way to start your holiday.
Don't forget your breakdown Insurance. If you break down on a Motorway and have not got your own, then the Highways Agency will organise one for you but you will be expected to pay for the recovery plus any storage costs incurred.
If you are abroad when you break down, then you may well have higher costs as well as either having to arrange repairs in a foreign language or arrange recovery back to the UK. With plenty of competition in the market, you can get some good deals at the moment.
