Trains
Rapid Travel in the United Kingdom has never been satisfactory since British Rail (BR) was created. A number of years ago, BR was split up and private Companies were allowed to operate trains on track owned by a new private Comapny - Railtrack. Unfortunately, Railtrack did not deliver on Maintenance and eventually was forced into liquidation. The UK has track that is in poor state and trains are unreliable, especially during rush hour.
If this has not put you off train travel, then by far your best guide to finding the correct train is The Trainline which can find you appropriate train routes and times across the UK. If you can book in advance or travel off-peak then you can cut the cost of your ticket considerably. If you have to travel on a popular route, or during rush hour, then you can pay a bit extra to reserve a seat. See The Trainline
website for details.
