Windsor is a pretty town on the River Thames, about 15 miles West of London.
It is home to Windsor Castle and visiting dignitaries are entertained on a regular basis.
It has a large main pedestrianised shopping area with a good selection of shops. A short stroll over the bridge in Eton you will find more boutique shops. Check out the old railway station where you will find some trendy boutiques and eateries.
Parking is a nightmare. There is some on-road parking and ticketed parking areas, however, being a Tourist these fill up rapidly in the summer months. To get to Windsor by train you have to get to Slough, then there is a connecting single track railway which provides a regular shuttle service.
Windsor Castle is on the top af a hill; at the bottom you can find the River Thames which is well worth a walk to as it is all very picturesque. From here , you can walk over the pedestrian bridge into Eton.
Central Windsor is very hilly.
